The outlandish consumerism of Christmas the holiday, overwhelms me. I don’t know how to be a part of that.
The quiet of Advent wraps round me protecting me from that chaos. The Advent litany of saints is like a board game leading me to the manger at Bethlehem.
The shorter days are not my favorite but the lucid winter sky brightens the journey. The white lights on our bushes welcome me home from my December errands. The crisp winter chill clears my mind allowing me to discard biases and small-mindedness, freeing me to embrace the wonders of the Feast of Christmas with its profound Mystery and simple joys.
Among the simple joys this year will be…
+ Zoom visits with family and friends.
+ Prayers for all those who cannot be with loved ones due to Covid, especially those in hospitals and extended care facilities.
+ Prayers of gratitude for our tireless medical teams caring for those we cherish.
+ Prayers of Hope that we will hear the WORD INCARNATE gently inviting us to kindness and unity.
May we all be wrapped in the Presence, Hope and Healing of Christmas.
What a wonderful, grace-filled message during our challenging times, Bridget. Thank you!
